Nolo

Dirty, dank, precarious, unstable not a place for the weak of spirit or body.

Don’t walk there alone at night.

Gothic and beautiful.

Dangerous and welcoming

As many graves as inhabitants

To walk around the French quarter brushing off the powder from café du monde feels lucky

Lucky this place wasn’t drowned in 2005 just washed off the map

Resilience is the best word, maybe southern pride

Founded in 1718 the transportation act brought thieves and murderers to her shore

Native Americans were desperate to keep their sacred lands

Blackbeard was killed in the waters of North Carolina the same year

The country was in conflict all the colonies against each other and slavery the norm

Same year San Antonio was founded but it lacks the spirits and creole magic

I love New Orleans early in the morning it is awe inspiring

My favorite thing to do is grab an ice coffee and visit the ancestors

Watch as the night owls sleep deeply in their dens.

Morning workers grudgingly go about their business

It is not a city for the faint of heart it takes balls to love it

If you open your heart and embrace her with all her vice and foible you will fall in love

Thank you for letting me have a vicarious experience of North Orleans😍🔥Your words took me through a wild , a tad bit scary , yet adventurous rustic , rich ancient history that screams LIFE. Can't wait to visit atleast once in my lifetime🌻

Good read! Completely agree with you. Just a wild thought... May be it's also an integral part of living. While migration and hunting/food searching are associated with survival needs of animals, Traveling might be associated with the human desire for discovery (of self as well as the ways of the universe). Perhaps a frequent change of our environment/surroundings might prove to be very helpful in keeping most of us alive and take a step back from our stressful and over-occupied lives so that it allows us to think calmly (instead of emotionally) about what s our purpose, where we are heading and if we need to redirect the sail abd stuff.... Having said that, I also agree that travel is not everyone's cup of tea... need to be smart with finances, health-wise feasible, and have sufficient time....

Thank you, Irfaan 🌻 I absolutely agree with how travel has been an integral part of living from the ancient times. Not just for humans. It's so thought provoking , you made me think of the evolutionary perspective. Thanks for giving me some food for thought 😇
